Today I received my copy (via snail mail) of Spending God’s Money: Extravagance and Misuse in the Name of Ministry by Mary Kinney Branson. The book is available through the publisher, Father’s Press. I just flipped through the book this afternoon, and have yet to find a page that does not have the acronmyn “NAMB” on it.
It appears to be a tell-all book from an “insider.” I think it may transform giving in Southern Baptist life, if enough people actually hear about it.
I plan to read as much of it as possible tonight. I will post a reaction tomorrow.

if churches in the state of tn knew how much the exec. dir. was making per year, there’s probably be a howling heard up in ky.
do our state leaders need to be making above 150 grand plus the perks?

If we do advocate against CP. Where does or how does the effect the IMB?

I’m not saying that we should advocate against the CP. I’m just saying that there must be greater transparency and accountability. Also, we need to prepare for more and more churches shifting their giving away from straight CP giving. It is coming.
But there will always be loyal CP giving churches.
Also … if there is one entity in Southern Baptist life that will survive such a shift, it is the IMB. That’s where we are definitely doing things right and getting the most “bang” for the buck.
