It’s been five months. I’m in withdrawal. Seriously. I’m not joking.

It’s been five months since I’ve been to my beloved beach. And as the days of this Kentucky winter turn the corner toward spring, I feel a great yearning for the sea. My wife and kids are the same way. I think we’re all a bit moody right now. :)

But it won’t be long. We leave for our Spring Break getaway right after church on easter Sunday. Seven glorious days. Sigh.

But God has blessed me with some bonus days this year. The week prior to my wife and kids’ Spring Break, I will be leading a men’s saltwater fishing retreat April 3-7 (Tuesday – Saturday). It’s mostly men from my church and a few of their friends and relatives. We’re calling it (so not cretively) our “Fishers of Men Retreat.” It will be three days of surf fishing, eating, fellowship, naps, and Bible study. I am so excited. (We’ll be traveling down on Tuesday and traveling back home on Saturday.) I can hardly wait. It’s going to be a blast.

Here’s the thing. I would love to meet some of my blogging friends, even the pastors! ;) We still have lots of room at the retreat center. It’s just bunk beds. But the company will be great. For about $250-300 ($150 for lodging and some meals … the rest for eating out, fishing expenses, snacks, etc…), you could enjoy a few days of fishing and awesome fellowship with a bunch of good old Kentucky country boys!

Here are the Specifics:

  • Location: St. George Island, Florida (Northern Gulf Coast … About an hour east of Panama City)
  • Lodging: SGI Christian Retreat Center (Operated by First Baptist Church)
  • Cost: About $250-300 (Depending on what you’re willing to spend … I would need $150 to reserve your bed.)

We’ll be having various sorts of fishing tournaments while we’re there … including one shark tournament … from the beach!

Bottom line … if you’re interested, have a little cash, and would like to truly “get away from it all” with an awesome group of Christian men … send me an e-mail. We would love to have you.

Here’s a little photo to whet your appetite. My wife took it from the porch of our house (rental, of course) on St. George Island, our beloved Mimi’s Beach House. Enjoy…
