Geoff Baggett
Pastor, Crossroads Fellowship
Cadiz, Kentucky

My name, obviously, is Geoff Baggett. A long time ago, in a universe far, far away, I worked in the field of medicine. I was a Medical Technologist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I was also a soldier, serving as a Sergeant/E-5 in the United States Army Reserve for six years. But I received my honorable discharge and I walked away from my medical career when God called me into the ministry full-time in 1995. As I have journeyed through that call, I have served as a Youth Pastor for thirteen years (bivocational and full-time), and have served as a church planter/pastor for the past five years.

I have been educating myself non-stop ever since I was five years old … no joke. I know that some people won’t listen to what you have to say unless they know how much you’re educated and where you obtained said education. So here goes … my schooling after high school includes:

Degrees / Certificates Earned

  • United States Army Basic Combat Training Certificate – Fort Knox, KY
  • Medical Laboratory Specialist Certificate -United States Army Academy of Health Sciences, Fort Sam Houston, TX
  • Medical Technologist Certificate – St. Thomas Hospital School of Medical Technology, Nashville, TN
  • BS – Union University, Jackson, TN (Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry)
  • Certificate / Ribbon – United States Army Reserve Non-Commissioned Officer’s Training School, Tunnell Hill, GA
  • MA – Luther Rice Seminary, Lithonia, GA (Counseling)
  • M.Div. – The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY (Billy Graham School – Missions, Evangelism, Church Growth)

Other Non-Degree Studies:

  • Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, Memphis, TN (8 Sem. Hours)
  • Luther Rice Seminary, Lithonia, GA (27 post-degree Sem. Hours)
  • College of St. Francis, Joliet, IL (Medical Administration – 8 Sem. Hours)
  • Trinity Theological Seminary, Newburg, IN (Doctoral Studies – 3 Sem. Hours)

I am married to Kim, my gorgeous wife of twenty-one years. We have two beautiful, godly daughters. Laura Beth is 16 and Katie is 14. They are the loves of my life. The home that we share is my primary field of ministry.

God has allowed me to plant and lead the Crossroads Fellowship in Cadiz, Kentucky. We are a Southern Baptist congregation in our doctrine, missions, and cooperation. I, however, am not really involved in Southern Baptist life or politics on an associational, state, or national level. I’m pretty much a “local church kind of guy.” I have enough here at home and in this church to keep me occupied. I sometimes wonder if many of my pastor-friends have way too much time on their hands

My greatest loves in my life are my wife, my children, my church, and my community. Surf fishing and the sea are my other hobbies and passions. I’m landlocked in Kentucky, but I still long for the sea. I have another blog that gives me the opportunity to have some fun writing about my saltwater adventures. Check it out here.

This blog is simply an on-line journal for me. I use it to post my own ideas, thoughts, views, pictures, passions, and stories. Which reminds me … the views expressed on this site are strictly my own. They do not, necessarily, reflect the views of the people of Crossroads Fellowship. I invite you to browse, laugh, and interact. I cherish your comments and questions. I realize that not many people will find their way to this site. But I hope that those who do will be blessed.

Geoff–You might be interested in an article in today’s Wall Street Journal about the enculturated church methods being emulated by the Conservative Jewish synagogues.

    Kat,
I don’t get the Journal. Is the article available on-line?
BTW – Thanks for the link on your blog. I appreciate your gracious comments.

Can’t find the WSJ article on-line, although it may show up later. The last page of the Friday Journal always has some good columns. One is called “Houses of Worship”. De Gustibus is often pretty good, too. Check it out a your local library.
I thought the parallels between Conservative Judaism and the all-things-to-all-people Christians were interesting. Keep an eye on what’s happening there.
Have you ever checked out Israel National Radio at http://www.israelnationalnews.com/? They have some interesting call-in programs & commentators.
Tovia Singer is often on. He has a mission to save Jews from Christian missionaries.
Too bad there are only 24 hours in a day!
